Introducing Quantum+ to Shape the Future of Quantum Technologies

University and business representatives are joining forces in the European QUANTUM+ project to develop a training pathway and platform on quantum technologies.

The resulting innovative training pathway is aimed at higher education students, professionals from technology companies and teachers, with the objective of improving their skills and employability in a context of growing workforce demand for quantum technologies.

Representatives from Finland, Spain, Greece and Italy are participating in the project, funded by the EU’s ERASMUS+ program, which has just started and will end in September 2027.

Quantum technologies aspire to become the most disruptive technology of the next decade, although they are still largely confined to academic and research environments. In view of this reality, the European QUANTUM+ project aims to design an innovative training itinerary aimed at higher education students, teachers, professionals and managers of technology-based companies to train them in quantum technologies.

The itinerary will include issues related to the fundamentals and potential applications of quantum technologies, as well as other fundamental aspects of quantum physics and quantum computing. This is intended to enhance their employability and equip them with crucial skills for future technological challenges in the face of the growing workforce demand for quantum technologies.

Led by the University of Vaasa (Finland), the project involves Skills Divers and Cluster GAIA (Spain), University of Patras (Greece) and Catholic University of the Sacred Heart (Italy). As reported by the project partners, “our goal is to contribute to filling the skills gap of higher education students and professionals in the field of quantum technologies, thus contributing to fostering the digital transformation of EU industry.”
